Methodist Sweeps Southern Virginia; Four Home Runs Ties Single Game Record

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C.  Methodist kicked off their first USA South conference game this afternoon hitting bombs, to take a two-game sweep over the Knights of Southern Virginia, 12-0, 2-1.

Three Monarchs combined for four home runs against the Knights, bringing in seven of the 12 runs in Game 1. Haley Fethke led the team with not one, but two single home runs, followed by Maria Kollar and Meaghan Himes each with one. Himes had a career day knocking out her first collegiate homerun with a grand slam.

With the four home runs, Methodist tied the program record for single game home runs which was set in 1992 when the Monarchs played Lenior-Rhyne. Fethke's also put her name in the program record book with her two home runs to tie the single-game home runs.
