HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Monarchs scored the first run of Game 1 on a foul out sacrifice fly, as the first baseman caught the ball in foul territory Bethany Junker took the chance to score. She was successful in the attempt and the next batter Meaghan Himes knocked in another run to put Methodist up 2-0, after the first inning.
- Starting Monarchs pitcher Brittany Jones was cruising along for most the game as she took a one-hit shutout into the sixth. In this inning, the Falcons found their swings with eight of them, which led to a big 10-run rally.
- Now down 10-2, Methodist chipped away at the difference during their at-bats in the sixth. Maria Kollar drove in two runners followed by Kayleigh Raynor bringing in one more to make it 10-5. That would be all the Monarchs could come up with before falling in the seventh.
- Pfeiffer scored more quickly in Game 2 by getting three runs in both the second & third innings. Methodist had a jolt of life in the bottom half of the third when Rebekah Haigler smack an RBI triple down the right field line and then Junker brought in Haigler off a single to right field for a score of 6-2.
- The Falcons struck again in the fourth with four more runs to push their lead to 10-2. Haven Williams allowed the last Monarch runner to score in the contest with a single before Pfeiffer tallied one last run in the fifth.
