GREENSBORO, N.C. Greensboro College gave Methodist baseball a near scare in the ninth but the Monarchs were able to come up with an 8-7 USA South Athletic Conference victory on Sunday afternoon, in Ted Leonard Park.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- After a quiet first couple of innings, Methodist got to the Pride first in a big way. With two runners on base, Spencer Nelson came to bat in the third and took a pitch yard for a three-run homer to put the Monarchs in front.
- Methodist struck for three more runs in the fifth when Hunter Hollman scored on a wild pitch followed by Jacob Austin and Stancil Bowles each driving in one run. Greensboro would finally get to Monarchs starter Ryan Hill and score twice to make it 6-2.
- Gavin Wheeler tallied the final two Methodist runs with RBI singles in both the seventh and eighth innings for an 8-2 score heading into the ninth.
- The Pride made things interesting during their last at-bats as six of the first seven batters reached base safely and scored four runs to make it 8-6. After the Monarchs registered the second out, Greensboro got within one by plating another run but Hill was than able to strikeout the final batter to secure his complete game win.

- Six Methodist batters recorded two hits in the game. Nelson had a team-high three RBIs.
- Caleb Greene and Austin co-led the game with three runs apiece.
