LYNCHBURG, Va. Methodist came up short in a non-conference women's tennis match on Sunday afternoon to host University of Lynchburg, 5-4.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The match opened with a doubles win at No. 3 for the Methodist pairing of Jill Lawrence and Veva Willocks, 8-3, over Alissa Anderson and Alexa Hardesty.
- Megan Kidd and Valeria Matute in the No. 2 spot battled a tough match against opponents Elizabeth and Grace Teefey but came up short 8-7. The Monarchs finished the doubles round with one win out of the three.
- In the singles matches, Lynchburg took the first point in the singles at the No.1 spot, but Willocks would keep the Monarchs within reach after a 6-4, 6-2 win at the No. 5.
- Megan Kidd competed in a tough match against Lauren Pascadlo, and came out on top with a 6-4 win the first set and 7-5 win in the second.
- Methodist tied the overall score at 4-4 after a win from Alex Pratt in the No. 6 singles as she defeated her opponent 6-4, 6-2.
- With the teams tied, the final point came down to the final match between Lawrence and Elizabeth Teefey. After Lawrence won the first set 6-4, she narrowly lost the second set 7-6, resulting in a tie breaker set where she came up short, 6-1.
