HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Monarchs got off to a great start by winning all three doubles matches to take a 3-0 lead into singles.
  • Jordan Theron breezed past Benedikt Pfeiffer in No.1 singles by scores of 6-1 in each set. After taking the first set 6-1, Henry Murray had to work a little bit more against Dylan Masters but was still able to pull out the flight win 7-5.
  • Luke Laney beat his counterpart Andres Valdez-Arze by matching set scores of 6-4 in No.4 singles. Spencer Kieft was not so fortunate in his flight by falling to Aleix Garrido 6-3, 6-1.
  • Quinn McNamara and Brent Edwards each went three sets against their opposites. McNamara dropped the first set to Alec Taylor 6-3 before getting a 6-4 win in set two but Taylor would get the better of McNamara 6-3 in the last set to claim the flight.
  • It was a little bit of a different story for Edwards as he lost a close first set 7-6 to Phillip Conaway. Edwards would bounce back though by winning the last two sets by scores of 6-2 & 10-8 for a come from behind flight victory.
