THE ESSENTIALS

Records: Methodist 16-17 (8-4 USA South); Salem 5-21 (2-10)
Location: Price Field; Fayetteville, North Carolina
HOW IT HAPPENED
- It only took two batters into the first game before Methodist got on the board, as an RBI double by Kayleigh Raynor drove in Bethany Junker. The Monarchs would also take advantage of a Salem error by adding one more run in the first inning.
- Most of the Monarchs runs came in the second inning, specifically off the bat of Haley Fethke as she clobbered a grand slam over the fence. Methodist would go up 7-0 after Meghan Himes drove in one run off her sacrifice fly.
- The Spirits lone run in Game 1 came when Brianne Coleman hit a triple and then scored off a Monarch error.
- Game 2 once again saw the Monarchs score during their first at-bats. Raynor made it to home plate via a Salem error.
- RBIs by Madison Sanchez and Junker, along with Maria Kollar scoring on a wild pitch, put Methodist up 4-0 heading into the fifth. Kollar, Sanchez, & Fethke all tallied an additional run batted in during the fifth and sixth innings.
Stat Facts
- Jones was pretty much lights out in the first contest. She allowed one run (0 unearned) off three hits while striking out nine batters and issuing one walk in a complete game performance.
- Barwick would top Jones day by tossing a complete game shutout. She only allowed one hit and had six strikeouts.
- Raynor had a good day at the plate by going 3 for 4 with one RBI and two walks in both contests combined. Fethke had a 5 RBI day between the two games.
