Monarchs Cruise Past the Avenging Angels

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. Methodist's women's tennis remains undefeated in USA South Athletic Conference play after beating Meredith College on Wednesday afternoon at the Gene Clayton Tennis Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Monarchs started the day off by taking all three doubles flights 8-0 each.
  • The first win of the day came from the number 3 pair of Megan Kidd and Valeria Matute followed by Abby Caddick and Kamdyn at the No. 1. Toni Laney and Jill Lawrence secured the doubles sweep in the No. 2 slot before moving on to singles.
  • The singles match witnessed nothing different as Methodist only allowed three points out of all 15 sets for the day.
  • Four Monarchs won their sets, 6-0, 6-0 including, Laney (No. 2), Kidd (4), Matute (5), and freshman, Veva Willocks (6).
  • No. 3 singles Lawrence allowed two points on the day, defeating opponent Summer Elkins 6-1, 6-1.
  • Caddick closed out the afternoon with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Aly Henneberry at the No. 1 position to seal the match sweep.
  • Methodist's five match win streak continues as the team remains undefeated in conference.
