BREVARD, N.C. Methodist's men's lacrosse team snagged a 14-5 victory over the Tornadoes of Brevard College on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- It was a steady start from both squads in the first quarter as Cy Horner secured the first goal of the game just five minutes into the frame. As play continued, Horner slide a pass to Kit Allman to go up 2-0, before the Tornadoes tallied their first goal late in the quarter.
- The Monarchs maintained the lead for the remainder of the game and calculated a quarter high five goals in the second. Hunter Vaughan and Ryan Kavounis each scored a pair along with Aiden Fosters single goal just two minutes before the break, taking a 7-3 lead over Brevard.
- The Monarchs showed no mercy to the tornadoes as they scored four consecutive goals in the third quarter to hold Brevard scoreless. Out of those four scores, Jesse Leyble took one to the rack off the jump, scoring within the first 12 seconds of the second half.
- Matt Pemberton showed out in the fourth quarter, scoring two early back-to-back goals to extend the score to 13-3.The final goal of the game was shot by Horner off an assist by Carter Favreau, taking the 14-3 victory.
NOTES AND NUMBERS
- The Monarchs outshot the Tornadoes, 59-28 as Methodist tallied 30 shots on goal to Brevard's 14.
- At the face off line, both teams were even, winning 11 out of 22.
- Leading all goal scorers was Horner (four) followed by Hunter Vaughan with three.
- Cameron Brink played the entire 60 and recorded nine saves for the game.
