Season-high 20 Goals Has Monarchs Peaking

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. A Payton Jones career day of six goals, and an overall dominant performance by the Monarchs led to a 20-4 victory over visiting Piedmont University in a USA South Athletic Conference women's lacrosse action Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Methodist took no prisoners, jumping out to a 5-1 advantage in the first 10 minutes of the game. Jones and Rosa Williams were each responsible for two of the first five goals, the Lions would score another goal before another Jones goal ended the first quarter.
  • The second quarter consisted of seven monarch goals led by two from Keegan Foyles to end the first half at 13-2.
  • The entire second half was all Methodist as Williams, Foyles, and Jones scored six of the last seven Monarch goals to finish the game at 20-4.
  • It was more than just a good day for the Methodist offense as the Monarch defense held Piedmont to only 10 shots as the Lions committed 25 turnovers.

  • Jones had a career day with six goals, not too far behind was Williams and Foyles with five and four goals respectively in this game.
  • Kayla Nee led the team with five assists. Foyles and Alaijah Ward each finished with two assists.
