NEWPORT NEWS, Va. Methodist baseball traveled to Newport News, Virginia to play No. 15/24 ranked Christopher Newport where they held their own for the game but could not overcome the two-run deficit, falling short 5-3.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Christopher Newport's first batter smacked a shot to right field for a triple to place a runner in scoring position with no outs. Their next batter hit a sacrifice fly to score the Captains first run of the game.
- In the bottom of the third inning, Christopher Newport went on to advance their lead to 4-0. The Captains had scored their four runs off three hits while the Monarchs had scored no runs off five hits.
- The runs came alive in the top of the fifth for Methodist. With no outs and bases loaded, Gavin Wheeler batted the Monarchs first run in after grounding out to the second baseman. Next up to bat was Justin Blunt, who sent one down the right field line to earn two RBIs.
- Methodist cut the game 4-3 but Christopher Newport was able to score a run in just a half inning later.
- After only getting two more hits through the remainder of the game, the Monarchs could not to close the gap and came up short 5-3.

- Blunt and Wheeler led the team with two hits each, while Blunt tallied two RBIs.
