Methodist Are Victorious Over William Peace

RALEIGH, N.C.  For the second time this season, the first in USA South Athletic Conference action, Methodist men's tennis has beaten William Peace University by an 8-1 decision on Saturday afternoon at Lions Park.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • In doubles, Denis Lytnev & Royce South beat the pair of Dallan Russell & Michael York 8-1. Spencer Kieft & Brent Edwards were also victorious in their doubles flight with a score of 8-4 against Dallas Russell & Dillon Garbrandt.
  • The Pacers did manage to squeak one doubles win, with Patrick Buckler & Daniel Hidalgo getting the best of Samir Tewari & Bridger Warlick 8-7.
  • Jordan Theron took care of business versus Dallas Russell by winning in straight sets 6-0, in No. 1 singles. The other Russell, Dallan, fared slightly better but still lost to Evan Kane of Methodist 6-2, 6-1.
  • Winning by scores of 6-1 & 6-0 was Harrison Bitzberger against Garbrandt. AJ Rogers squared off with Hidalgo in No. 2 singles, where Rogers came out on top 6-2, 6-4.
  • In No. 4 singles, Jaben Hardin faced off with Buckler and Hardin prevailed 7-5, 6-3. Coming from behind to win his flight was James Hu. Hu dropped the first set 7-6 to York before taking the second set 6-2 and winning the super tiebreaker 10-8.
UP NEXT
  • Methodist plays again on Sunday against Guilford College in Fayetteville at 1 PM.
  • William Peace is back in action on Tuesday as they travel to play Shaw University at 2 PM.
