HOW IT HAPPENED
- Game 1 witnessed only three hits between both teams through the first three innings, as Meredith scored the first run of the game in the bottom of the fourth.
- Methodist struggled to find the gap until the top of the sixth, as Bethany Junker scored the Monarchs first run after beating out a single to the third baseman. A sacrifice bunt moved her to second, before an error by the left fielder advanced her to third. Heather Tsapp popped up to the left fielder to score Junker.
- The game was forced into extra innings after remaining tied 1-1 after the seventh.
- The Monarchs were first to take the lead in the top of the ninth off another hit from Tsapp to bring Kayleigh Raynor home. The Avenging Angels had the last at bat and with an automatic runner on second base to start the bottom of the inning, a single to right field scored the first run with only one out.
- The game was called when Meredith took the 3-2 lead off an error by the Monarchs' first basemen, scoring the runner on third.
- Game 2 saw a strong hitting presence from Methodist, as the team tallied twelve hits to score six runs in the game. The Monarchs leaked out on a 6-0 run through the fourth and sixth innings, as the Avenging Angels only scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth.
- The first run was scored when Meredith walked in a run with bases loaded. The Avenging Angels managed to get out of the inning but one inning later, the Monarchs loaded the bases again. A single from Haley Fethke and Tsapp scored the next two runs for Methodist.
- The Monarchs final three runs were scored from a single by Raynor to round two runners home, followed by a single from Tsapp to bring Raynor home.
- Meredith's two runs was not enough to overcome the 6-0 lead by Methodist.
