FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. Methodist women's lacrosse faced off against Berry College on Saturday in a non-conference battle that was taken down to the wire in the fourth quarter as the Monarchs came up on the short end, 12-10.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Methodist jumped out early on Berry, scoring three unanswered goals in the first four minutes of play. The first goal was marked by Rosa Williams, followed by a goal from Keegan Foyles and Alaijah Ward.
- Not long after, the Vikings woke up and held the Monarchs' lead to just two by the end of the first quarter (5-3). In the five goals scored, Kayla Nee contributed to three assists which broke the program record for single season assists, set in 2007 by Lauren McGonagle (31).
- Through the second and third quarters Methodist kept a steady one to two goal lead which kept Berry within arm's reach.
- The fourth quarter witnessed a rough patch for the Monarchs, as the Vikings' comeback game progressed in their favor. Two back-to-back goals by Berry led to a tie and first lead change of the game. The momentum of the game had shifted, but Williams and Nee combined for a goal that tied the game back up, 10-10 with nine minutes left to play.
- Down the stretch, Berry was able to squeeze two goals by Methodist to take a 12-10 lead in the final four minutes. The Monarchs three shot attempts could not surpass the Vikings goalie, resulting in a 12-10 loss.

- Berry outscored Methodist 5-1 in the fourth quarter.
- Williams and Nee carried the team in goals and assists, as Williams led with four goals and Nee with five assists.
- The Monarchs out shot the Vikings 38-26, 25 of which were on goal, but the goalkeeper for Berry did solid work for her team in the second half, accumulating 10 of her 15 total saves, allowing only three goals by the Monarchs.
- Methodist won in all stats across the board but was unable to convert more goals in the end.
