FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. Methodist University Vice President and Director of Athletics
Dave Eavenson is pleased to announce two new inductees into the Methodist University Athletics Hall of Fame.
Vivian Davis '87 and
Mark Faber '94 will join the Hall as the Class of 2022.
Davis is a three-time Dixie Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (DIAC) Volleyball All-Conference selection, earning back-to-back first-team honors in 1985 & 1986, after being a second-team pick in 1984. The all-time leader in program history (as of her 2022 induction) with a .449 hitting percentage, Davis also owns the top two single-season program records for hitting percentage (.487 - 1986; .452 - 1984). In women's basketball, she was a DIAC Second-Team All-Conference pick for the 1986-87 season after averaging 13.9 points and 10.9 rebounds per game. She is still among the top-10 in scoring (ninth) and rebounds (second).
Faber was a four-year member of the men's tennis program that won four consecutive Dixie Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championships, from 1991-94. During that span, he made All-Conference in doubles three times (1991, 1992, & 1994) and in singles once (1992). Faber and his doubles partner, in 1993, were the No. 1 ranked doubles team in the south region and would go on to become doubles champions at the 1993 South Regional Rolex Championship. The following year (1994), Faber once again saw his name reach the top of the regional rankings but also in the national ranking, soaring as high as 15th.
The Class of 2022 brings the Hall of Fame to 105 inductees. Due to Covid-19 restrictions from the past couple of years, the Class of 2020's four and the Class of 2021's two inductees will also be honored at the 2022 induction ceremony. The induction ceremony is scheduled to take place on Friday October 21, 2022 at 6:30 pm on the campus of Methodist University as a part of homecoming weekend.
