Final score: Guilford def. Methodist, 3-0
Records: Methodist 1-1-1, Guilford 1-1-1
Location: Duggins Soccer Stadium; Fayetteville, North Carolina

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Three Monarchs found themselves with a chance to put Methodist on the board in the first half as they fired three back-to-back shots on goal. First from Charlie Teachey and next from Caleb Allen and Jayse Gleeson after a corner kick.
  • Unfortunately, Quaker goalkeeper Roman Robinson was in position to make the diving stop.
  • Guilford showed their relentless attack with the 21 total shots they took in the match, nine of which were on goal, compared to Methodist's nine shots, where five were on target.
NUMBERS
  • The Quakers showed they possessed the ball more. The evidence of this was in corner kick opportunities, 12-4.
  • Cole Hupp, in taking the loss, made a game-high seven saves.
  • Along with Teachey, Hudson Zeisman had two shot attempts, one of which was on target.
NEXT UP
  • Methodist remains at Duggins Stadium this week with their next match-up against non-conference opponent Trinity Baptist College on Friday, September 9 at 6 p.m. This will be the Monarchs and Eagles first competition with each other in program history.
