FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. Methodist women's soccer rocked the house on Wednesday night in their home opener against St. Andrews University. The Monarchs beat the Knights 5-0, which was led by senior forward,
Laura Harris with two goals, matching her career high.
This was Methodist's first five goal game since 2019 when the team beat Lehman College 5-1 in a non-conference match-up.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- In the 31st minute of the game, Madison Brunson put the first mark on the board for the Monarchs off an assist from Rachel Johnson.
- 47 seconds into the second half, Maddie Hernandez launched a corner kick from the near side into the box, allowing Baylor Burch to find the back of the net off a header to put Methodist up 2-0.
- Harris scored her two goals back-to-back in the 51st and 63rd minute of action with assists from Corrine Shovlain and Tatiana Lourenco-Shiber.
- Adding the cherry on top was Hailey Strain, who scored off a pass from Rachel Johnson that squeezed through two defenders to find Strain on the backside.

- Methodist finished the game with 28 total shots, 15 of which were on target, to St. Andrews five total shots with three on target.
- The Monarchs dominated in corner kicks, taking eight attempts to score one goal in comparison to the Knights lone attempt.
- The combine efforts of Mary Newman, Carolina Simpkins, and Kaylea Carter in net gave the Monarchs their second shutout of the season.
- Eight different Methodist players registered multi-shot performances, with Lourenco-Shiber leading the way with a match-high four shots.
