SWANNANOA, N.C. Visiting the Owls of Warren Wilson College, the Methodist women's basketball team cruised to a 67-48 victory on Tuesday evening. The Monarchs never trailed in route to their second win over the Owls this season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Methodist jumped out to a 7-0 lead to start the first quarter, capped off with a Kiley Hicks layup. The Monarchs continued to grow their lead, as three-straight baskets by Hicks pushed the team to a 15-6 advantage. Methodist closed the period on an 11-3 run, holding Warren Wilson to just nine points in the first quarter.
- Methodist's Ni'Jaa Wells recorded the first points of the second quarter to extend the Monarchs' lead to 17 points. The Owls responded with a three-pointer, but an 8-2 scoring run by Methodist gave the Monarchs a 20-point lead. That lead decreased to 14 as Warren Wilson sank two more three-pointers while scoring seven of the last eight points to end the half.
- Up 35-21, the Monarchs opened the third quarter with back-to-back buckets from Aniyah Tate and Jillian Peterson. Methodist continued to safely maintain a double-digit lead as the teams alternated scores. The Monarchs found success in the paint, while the Owls knocked down another two shots from behind the arc.
- A 16-3 run over the first seven and a half minutes of the fourth quarter gave Methodist its largest lead of the night at 28 points. The Owls scored the last nine points to close the contest.
