FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. Methodist women's tennis opened its 2022-23 spring season on their home court, Gene Clayton Tennis Center, this Wednesday afternoon. The Monarchs were matchup with Barton College, where the Bulldogs came away with a 9-0 win.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Barton was up 3-0 at the conclusion of the doubles action. The duo of Kamdyn Balko and Calin Cifra almost came away with a point for Methodist but they came up just short, 8-6, against the Bulldog combo of Tilde Howeler and Irma Granstam.
- During singles play, Toni Laney, Veva Willocks, and Luciana Forma all fell by similar scores to their respective opponents. Each of them though was able to claim one game from a set.
- Both Cifra and Valeria Matute were the only Monarchs to win multiple games in each set before falling in their flight.
- Megan Kidd lost by identical set scores of 6-1 to her counterpart in number three singles.
