GREENSBORO, N.C. Methodist softball payed a visited to Guilford College on Saturday for a non-conference doubleheader. The Quakers were able to take both games from the Monarchs with a 7-2 win in the first contest before completing the sweep in a six inning 12-3 run rule victory at Haworth Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Game 1:
- Guilford got on the scoreboard first, in the fourth inning, with an RBI single from Cassie Turner. Following a hit to load the bases up come comes Abbie Hill. Hill smacked a hit to the outfield to drive in two Quaker runners and give her team a 3-0 lead.
- Freshman Emily Angel put up the first run for Methodist by clobbering her first collegiate homerun of her career to center field in the top half of the fifth. The Quakers would get that run back in the bottom half of the inning as Anna Frazier doubled down the left field line to bring in the fourth Guilford run of the game.
- In the sixth, the Monarchs got within two, 4-2, after a passed ball allowed Hannah Lovic to score from third. Guilford then tacked on three more runs during their at-bats of the inning.
Game 2:
- A pair of sacrifice flies by Shiloh Gray and Morgan Kinney gave the Quakers a 2-0 advantage in third inning.
- Amanda Blackburn recorded the first Methodist RBI of this contest with her hit in the fourth.
- The fourth and fifth innings saw Guilford score four more runs to increase the lead to 6-1.
- Blackburn of the Monarchs tallied her second RBI of the game, off a fielder's choice, in the sixth before Claire Cummings worked a walk to bring in her teammate standing on third.
- The Quakers registered six runs in the bottom half of the sixth.
NUMBERS
- Methodist pitching staff did not seem to have any answers against the Guilford hitters. Between both games, the Quakers recorded 29 hits while the Monarchs managed 11.
- Guilford has now won the last five meetings and is outscoring Methodist 46-14 during that span.

Methodist is off for the next week before starting USA South Athletic Conference action on Saturday, when the team heads to Mary Baldwin University for two games. First pitch is scheduled for 2 PM.
