FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. The Methodist men's tennis team hosted Southern Virginia University on Tuesday, winning three of nine matches. The Knights earned victories over the Monarchs in two out of three doubles matches and four out of six singles matches.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Cameron Roth and Andrew Wood earned the lone doubles win for Methodist as the No. 2 duo, outlasting their opponents 8-6.
- The top doubles match was won by the Knights as Matthew Hurley and Wills Belser showed a strong effort in the 8-5 loss. In the third doubles match, Evan Kane and Will Trocchi put up an even closer performance, falling just shy of victory in an 8-7 defeat.
- In the singles round, Belser earned the first win for Methodist from the second court, cruising past his opponent in sets of 6-2 and 6-0. Methodist's other win came from Trocchi, who won his first set 6-3 before squeezing out a triumphant 7-6 second set.
- Hurley fell in the top singles spot with sets of 6-2 and 6-4. On the third court, Wood posted set losses of 6-2 and 7-5. In the fourth singles match, Roth lost in 6-4 and 6-0 fashion. Finally, the closest match of the day came in the sixth singles spot, as Kane lost the first set 7-6, won the second set 7-6, and finally lost the third set 10-7.
