HOW IT HAPPENED
  • A little over a minute into the contest, Meredith registered the first goal off a shot from Kylie Phillips. About 30 seconds later, Methodist tied the game up 1-1 with a Mikayla Ramos goal off a feed from Kayla Nee. A score by Allison June Mabe put the Avenging Angels back in front before Nee found the back of the cage herself to make it 2-2.
  • Brooke Blades tallied the third goal for Meredith, and the lead once more. Shortly after Kennedy Martin got into the scoring column with the Monarchs third goal of the game. Before the first quarter was over, Tori Witmer gave the Avenging Angels a 4-3 advantage after she was able to score.
  • Meredith opened up the second period by scoring the first two goals, 6-3, contributed by Witmer and Reese Walker. Payton Jones (one goal) and Keegan Foyles (two goals) recorded the next three scores for Methodist to tie the game at 6-6. In a 30 second span, Lauryn Turner and Blades had the Avenging Angels up 8-6 with their goals.
  • The combination of Nee to Ramos got the Monarchs back to within one, 8-7, but Walker and Turner closed out the first half for Meredith by tacking on two more goals.
  • The third frame was dominated by the Avenging Angels as they registered eight goals, to Methodist three, and took a commanding 18-10 lead. The goals scored in the third for the Monarchs were by Ramos, Jones, and Martin.
