FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. Methodist women's lacrosse team took care of business in the team's home opener against Ferrum College on Saturday afternoon, in a non-conference match-up. The Monarchs cruised to a 18-5 victory over the Panthers in Monarch Stadium.
At the conclusion of the contest, junior
Kayla Nee finished with five points (one goal and four assists.) With those five points, Nee eclipse the 100th point of her collegiate career. She becomes the 14th Methodist player in program history to record 100+ points while wearing the Green and Gold.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- By the time the first quarter ended the Monarchs had a 4-0 lead. Layla Wiesenfeld tallied the first goal of the game and then 20 seconds later Nee was able to find the back of the net herself. Both Mikayla Ramos and Tia Marlinghaus would each get into the scoring column later in the first.
- After two more Methodist goals by Maddie Hagler and Marlinghaus, Ferrum recorded their first goal of the contest thanks to Erin Reynolds getting it past the Monarch goalie. Two more goals were made by each team, 8-3, before heading into halftime.
- Similar to the first quarter, the third only witnessed Methodist scoring to extend its advantage to 14-3. Scoring for the first time in this game were Payton Jones and Macey Blackburn, along with Kennedy Martin registering her second goal of the contest.
- The fourth period saw the Monarchs outscoring the Panthers four to two, with goals by Jones (2), Ramos, and Blackburn. Willow Cooper and Reynolds had the last two scores for Ferrum.
FAST FACTS
- Methodist finished with more shots (37 to 13), shots on goal (31 to 8), and draw controls (18 to 6) than the Panthers.
- Jones had a game-high four goals while Marlinghaus & Nee tied the game-high in points (5).
- Martin's five caused turnovers, seven groundballs, and seven draw controls led all players in those three categories.
