ELON, N.C. Methodist women's tennis was on the road Saturday afternoon with a non-conference match-up against Division I Elon University. The contest resulted in the Phoenix sweeping the Monarchs, 7-0, at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Elon won all three doubles contests to go ahead 1-0. Kamdyn Balko and Toni Laney, who claimed the only game for Methodist, fell 6-1 to the Phoenix top team of Sibel Tanik and Lizette Reding.
- Julie Ball made it 2-0 for Elon with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Valeria Matute for the Monarchs on Court 3.
- Methodist's Veva Willocks fell 6-0, 6-1 on Court 4 to Olivia Archer, who gave the Phoenix a 3-0 advantage.
- Monarch losses by Hannah Higgins (6-0, 6-0) and Laney (6-1, 6-2), to Shauna Galvin and Tanik respectively, made it 5-0.
- Miray Konar and Helen Sarikulaya were the last two Elon players to wrap up the sweep against Balko (6-1, 6-2) and Megan Kidd (6-1, 6-1).

Methodist makes a visit to Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, for the team's annul spring break trip. The Monarchs first contest will be on Monday against Lancaster Bible College at 4 PM.
