HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Monarchs were first to rally in game one, scoring three runs in the bottom of the first. Greensboro responded with three runs in the top of the second courtesy of a M'Kenzie Davis double that scored three.
- Breaking the tie in the bottom of the fourth, Sydney Sizemore singled to left center with the bases loaded to bring home two runs for Methodist. The Pride retook the lead in the top of the fifth with four more runs before the Monarchs scored two more in the bottom frame – this time thanks to a double by Alexandra Edwards – tying the score at 7-7.
- Methodist allowed Greensboro to score one more run in the sixth, then gave up three in the seven, and this time had no answer.
- In the second game, it was Methodist again that jumped out to an early lead, scoring the first run of the game on an RBI single by Haley Fethke. In the third inning, Fethke batted in another before Alyssa Rivas smashed a double that scored two more, giving the Monarchs a 4-0 advantage.
- The top of the fifth was once again not kind to Methodist, as Greensboro tallied five runs on four hits. The Pride tacked on one more in the sixth and another in the seventh for a 7-4 edge. The Monarchs pieced together one score in the bottom of the seventh but ran out of steam for a comeback.
NUMBERS
- Alexandra Edwards paced the Methodist offense, batting 5-for-6 on the day (including one double and one triple) with two walks, two RBI and two runs scored as the leadoff hitter.
