BREVARD, N.C. With the conclusion of the USA South Outdoor Championship on Friday, the Methodist track and field team earned a second-place finish for the men and a fifth-place finish for the women.
On the men's side, the Monarchs tallied 137 points, finishing behind Southern Virginia University (269) and just ahead of Brevard College (98). On the women's side, Methodist totaled 65 points, just two points shy of fourth-place Pfeiffer University.

TOP PERFORMANCES
- In the men's 4x100m relay, the Monarchs captured first place with a sequence of AJ Matthews, Aaron Nash, Josiyah Woods and Keyshaun Pete as they recorded a time of 42.60.
- The Monarchs took second place in the women's 4x100m relay as Brandi Gardner, Treazure Rosario Watson, Erykalyn Neal and Kayla Mitchell put together a season PR with a time of 49.12.
- In the women's 400m event, Mitchell finished first, posting a conference meet record of 58.33 while Rosario-Watson took second with a time of 59.00. Both were season best times.
- In the women's 100m, Gardner placed third with a time of 12.93.
- In the men's 100m, Nash earned a second-place finish with a time of 11.15.
- In the men's 1,500m, Drew Topoly finished in first with a time of 3:59.40, completing his final 400 meters in just 57 seconds to earn the conference meet record for the event.
- Topoly collected his fourth first-place finish of the two-day event with a time of 15:10.61 in the men's 5,000m event. Being the only athlete to win four events, he was named the Track Male Athlete of the Meet.
- Gardner earned second place in the women's triple jump with a leap of 10.26m.
- In the men's triple jump, Pete earned first place with a top mark of 13.85m on his last jump, setting a PR and the all-time conference record.

Methodist will send some athletes to the Liberty Twilight Meet on Wednesday, May 3 as they seek to qualify for the NCAA championships.
