THE ESSENTIALS
Final results: Brevard def. Methodist, 4-0
Records: Methodist 27-13, Brevard 22-19
Location: Armstrong-Shelley Field, Fayetteville, North Carolina

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • A costly Methodist error gave the Tornados their first run of the game in the second inning.
  • A few innings later, fifth, Kenneth Pridmore doubled Brevard's score, 2-0, after he crushed a solo homerun over the left field fence.
  • In the sixth, the Tornados added two more runs to their total to make it 4-0. Both Pridmore and Hayden Jennings had a sacrifice fly to get those runs home.
  • The seventh and ninth innings were the Monarchs best chance to score runs to potentially force extra innings or walk-it off.
  • Methodist had bases loaded, in the seventh, while the ninth saw runners on second & third. The Monarchs though were unable to capitalize on these scoring opportunities.
STAT FACTS
  • Going the distance for Brevard was its starter Jacob Thompson, nine innings. He threw a complete-game shutout after allowing four hits and struck out five batters while walking three.
  • This was the second consecutive game that Methodist was shutout, and the third time in the last five contests.
  • Gavin Wheeler led the Monarchs with his two hits (2-for-4).
