WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. Methodist University track & field program participated in its first indoor event of 2024. The Monarchs traveled to the JDL Fast Track Indoor Track & Field facility for their Flat is Fast Invitational.

TOP TRACK PERFORMANCES
- Methodist had five members run in the men's 60 meter qualifying race. In the fourth heat, freshman Tydrick Stewart produced a time of 7.15 seconds, which was the second fastest time in the qualifiers. This allowed Stewart to advance to the men's 60m prelims, where he ran a 7.22 and came in 15th place.
- A number of Monarchs found top-10 success in some of the distance events throughout the day. Sophomore Alex Topoly placed third in the men's 1,000m race, with a time of two minutes, 38.21 seconds. On the women's side of the 1,000m, junior Niya Johnson ran a 4:20.99 to come in 10th.
- Both Austin Ezzell, 5th; 2:04.90, and Patti Busch, 8th; 2:40.90, ran in their respective 800m races for Methodist.
- Charmaine Robison finished seventh overall in the women's 600m following a time of 2:09.06.
TOP FIELD PERFORMANCES
- Earning a fourth place spot was Komla Akogo, 1.83m, in the men's high jump event.
- Brandi Gardner came away with a top-five finish in the women's long jump. Her 5.06m leap was good for 5th. On the men's side, Jeremiah Freeman just missed a top-10 placement. His best jump was 6.02m, which placed him in 11th, while the 10th place jumper had a mark of 6.03m.
- Micah McCorvey and Isaiah Cuthrell each placed in the top-10 of the men's triple jump event. With a 12.61m jump, McCorvey finished in fifth while Cuthrell came in seventh following a 12.06m leap.
- In men's shot put, freshman Tristan Bowser came out of the event with a ninth place finish after his best throw best 10.90m.
NEXT UP
It will be a couple of weeks before Methodist next meet. On February 3, the Monarchs travel to Liberty University to take part in the Liberty Open.
