HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Pfeiffer appeared poised to begin the match, grasping a 10–5 lead in the first set. In a full team–effort, the Monarchs produced a 10–2 run to take the lead and pull in front by three points. Jamie Holton had three kills over that stretch, while Jeanana Fowler and Savannah Hovander each contributed two. Methodist took the first set while hitting .324 as a team.
  • Methodist took a 6–2 lead in the second set after a service ace by Hovander, but the Falcons responded with five straight points. With the set tied at 18, the Monarchs caught fire, taking the next five points to go up 23–18. Just as she did in the first set, Hovander earned the final kill, this time giving Methodist a two–set lead. It was the 18th kill of the set for the Monarchs.
  • Everything fell Methodist's way to start the third set, as the Monarchs won the first eight points. Holton stacked up three kills over that run and Tanis earned one while also assisting Hovander on one block. Pfeiffer never got back within fewer than four points while Methodist churned out the win. Kassidy Edge was subbed in for the last point, and the freshman delivered the final kill.
