CARY, N.C. Shutting out the Pacers of William Peace University, the Methodist women's soccer team recorded a 3–0 victory away from home on Saturday. The Monarchs earned an important win to improve to 6–2 in conference play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Much like in Tuesday's match against Christopher Newport, Kelsey Burge netted an early score to give Methodist the 1–0 advantage. Her goal came in the fourth minute of play and was the product of a Lola Campbell assist.
- Methodist's Carolina Simpkins was tasked with making just two saves in the first half and one in the second half, which she did.
- The Monarchs added two insurances goals in the second half - one scored by Emily Hoyt in the 61st minute and another by Burge in the 72nd minute. Gizelle Garcia assisted on the score by Hoyt, while Allye Carter was responsible for the assist on the third goal.
NUMBERS
- With two scores in Saturday's match, Kelsey Burge became the first Monarch with a multi–goal game this season. It's also the first multi–goal game of her collegiate career.
- The Monarch defense allowed 10 shots, but just three of those shots were on target. For Methodist, nine of 14 shots were on goal.
