ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. Competing with North Carolina Wesleyan University in the final match of the regular season, the Methodist men's soccer team found itself on the wrong side of a 2–1 result on Wednesday, dropping the match to the Battling Bishops.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- 10 minutes into the match, Alex Ramson was called for a foul inside the penalty box, setting up a penalty kick for the Battling Bishops. On the kick, Bastien Dechamps found the back of the net, giving the home team an early advantage.
- The Monarchs buttoned up their defense, allowing just one other shot during the first half. On the flip side, Methodist was held without a shot offensively for the entire first period.
- Wasting no time after the halftime break, it took N.C. Wesleyan less than 3 minutes to score its second goal of the night. This time it was Osei Darko who got the ball past Methodist goalkeeper Trey Gohr for the score.
- In the 71st minute, the Monarchs returned one score as Steven Floyd finished a pass from Garrett Panos for a goal. Methodist would have no further shot attempts.
NUMBERS
- Floyd's goal is just the fifth goal that the Battling Bishops have allowed against a conference opponent this season. It's Floyd's ninth goal of his sophomore campaign.
- Neither team's goalkeeper recorded a save on the match, as the only shots on goal for either side resulted in scores.
