FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. Playing its final home game of the season, the Methodist men's basketball team competed well against the Brevard Tornados, pushing ahead by as many as eight points in the first half of Saturday's contest. Despite the strong surge, the Monarchs conceded the lead just before halftime and were unable to reclaim an advantage.

Isaiah Rodriguez were recognized prior to the game, with both players appearing in the starting lineup for Methodist.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Brevard scored the first four points of the game before Methodist's Derrion Hicklen answered with a three-pointer. The Tornados stayed out in front until under 12 minutes remained in the first half, when Brone Brinson took the ball to the rack for a layup that tied the score at 13-13.
- After a Brevard free throw, the Monarchs got hot, scoring the next nine points to go up 22-14 with 6:50 left in the period. Brevard's Jeremy Posner hushed the crowd with a triple on his team's next possession, sparking a 9-0 run for the Tornados. The teams swapped leads before Brevard closed the half with seven of the final nine points, taking a 32-38 lead into the locker room.
- Brevard's lead grew to 10 as the Tornados outscored the Monarchs 13-7 over the first five minutes of the second half. With 15 minutes still to go in the second half, Brevard's next four scores all came from beyond the three-point line, but the Monarchs scored 19 points to those 12, cutting the deficit to just three (57-54) with 8:44 remaining.
- Brevard's Charlie Hester and Jadon Carnes closed out the game for the Tornados, combining for 14 of the team's final 16 points.

- Zac Sledge tied his season high of 22 points, leading the Monarchs offensively through the paint.
- The Tornados dominated the glass, grabbing 36 rebounds to Methodist's 21.
