DEMOREST, Ga. Taking on tough competition in the form of the Piedmont Lions, the Methodist women's tennis team fell 9-0 on Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Methodist's No. 1 doubles duo of Toni Laney and Veva Willocks held its own against Piedmont's top doubles team, finishing just short in an 8-6 defeat. In No. 2 doubles, Emma Hulicki and Annabelle Subirats fell 8-4, while the No. 3 doubles pair of Caitlin Tihanovich and Wilette Rivera Morales suffered an 8-1 loss.
- The Lions took a 4-0 advantage with a win in the No. 6 singles match, as Rivera Morales fell via sweep. Next, Piedmont claimed victory on the No. 4 singles court, taking down Subirats with two sets of 6-1 each.
- In the No. 3 singles match, Tihanovich didn't make things easy for her opponent, falling 6-3 in the first set and 6-4 in the second. Similarly, Willocks fell in sets of 6-4 and 6-3 on the No. 5 singles court.
- In No. 2 singles, Hulicki was put away in sets of 6-3 and 6-1. The final singles match end was the No. 1 matchup, in which Laney nearly took the first set (7-5 loss) before dropping the second set 6-2.
