Methodist Competes at Liberty Open

LYNCHBURG, Va.  The Methodist track and field team had several shining stars at the Liberty Open on Saturday while competing against schools across the NCAA's Divisions I, II and III.

TOP TRACK PERFORMANCES
  • In the men's 60-meter dash prelims, Tydrick Stewart recorded a time of 7.12, earning a 17th-place finish.
  • Brandi Gardner's time of 26.64 in the women's 200-meter dash finals earned a 25th-place finish.
  • In the 500-meter dash, Austin Ezzell earned a sixth-place finish as Methodist's top finisher on the men's side with a time of 1:08.42, while Patti Busch was the top finisher for the Monarchs on the women's side, earning a fifth-place finish with a time of 1:29.52.
  • Finishing 32nd out of 124 runners in the men's 1-mile run, Alex Topoly ran a time of 4:32.89.
  • In the men's 4x400, Methodist's team of Stewart, Ezzell, Torrey Williams and Joshua Antoine finished 14th out of 24 teams with a time of 3:36.54.
  • In the women's 4x400, Methodist's squad of Gardner, Patti Busch, Katena Morrison and Treazure Rosario Watson finished in eighth out of 17 entries with a time of 4:16.15, edging out Liberty by one hundredth of a second.
TOP FIELD PERFORMANCES
  • Brandi Gardner excelled in the women's long jump, placing 15th out of 68 entrants with a leap of 5.16 meters.
  • In men's shot put, freshman Tristan Bowser launched a throw of 11.49 meters – good enough for 13th place out of 52 competitors.

Methodist is back in action next weekend at the Joe LaRocco Invitational hosted by Roanoke in Salem, Virginia.
