WILMINGTON, N.C. On the first day of the UNCW Seahawk Invitational, several members of the Methodist track and field teams set new personal bests and recorded top-10 finishes.

TRACK EVENTS
- Logan Williams completed a tight race in the men's 3,000-meter steeple, narrowly finishing second with a time of 10:21.92 that topped his previous best by nearly 40 seconds. His time was just .31 seconds behind the first-place finisher.
- Alex Topoly set a new PR in the men's 1,500-meter race, finishing in third place out of 18 individuals (many from Division I and Division II schools) with a time of 4:06.19.
- In the men's 5,000-meter race, Jack Barriger and Rafael Shilengitha both outdid their previous bests, finishing 11th and 12th respectively with times of 16:41.62 and 16:41.95.
FIELD EVENTS
- Alex Strickland finished the men's javelin throw with a PR distance of 45.66 meters, good enough for seventh place. Teammate Romone Belk Jr. also earned a spot in the top 10 with a ninth-place throw of 38.21 meters.

Methodist returns to Wilmington tomorrow for Day 2 of the UNCW Seahawk Invitational. Field events are scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. with the first track events beginning at noon.
