McGaughnea and Tate Named to the CSC Academic All-District Team

GREENWOOD, Ind.  The College Sports Communicators (CSC) have released their Academic All-District teams for women's basketball on Tuesday afternoon. Methodist had two honorees this year; Rebecca McGaughnea and Aniyah Tate. Additionally, this is the first time these two recipients have received this award.

McGaughnea started all 25 games that she appeared in for the Monarchs this season. Her 7.1 points per game (177 total) & 4.6 rebounds per game (114) were career-highs for the junior from Pittsboro, North Carolina. She was also second on the team in blocks with 13, career-high.
 
Tate was named to the USA South First Team All-Conference team following a season that saw her play in 26 games, 21 starts. Her 17.1 PPG (445 total) ranked second in the league, along with her 52.7 field goal percentage. During the season, the Concord, North Carolina, native became the seventh Methodist player in women's basketball history to record 1,000 career points. She also set a new program record for most field goals made in a single-season, with 184.

The 2023-24 Academic All-District® Women's Basketball Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes women's basketball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced April 16, 2024.
 
The Division II and III CSC Academic All-America® programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2023-24 Divisions II and III Academic All-America® programs.
