FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. Methodist University women's lacrosse hosted North Carolina Wesleyan University on Tuesday, March 26, in a USA South Athletic Conference contest. The home Monarchs routed the Battling Bishops 21-2.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Getting the scoring going for Methodist was Mikayla Ramos, less than minutes into the first quarter. The rest of the opening period was dominated by the Monarchs as they scored eight more goals, giving them a 9-0 lead. Payton Jones showed out by tallying three goals and two assists.
- Anna Tabarrini registered another score for Methodist before N.C. Wesleyan capitalized on a free-position attempt, scoring its first goal of the game. Four more Monarchs would find the back of the cage to push their advantage to 14-1, by the time the game reached the half.
- In the third stanza, Methodist only outscored the Battling Bishops 2-1. Scoring the goals for the Monarchs were Ainsley McGinn and Macey Blackburn.
- Methodist added five more goals to its total in the fourth quarter, with Meagan Cox and Paige Camerson recording the final two goals. Cox, a senior, and Camerson, a junior, normally play defense but with a big lead were able to test their skills on offense. It resulted in the two of them registering their first-ever collegiate goals.
FAST FACTS
- Jones paced the Monarch offense with five goals and three assists. Recording her first career hat trick was Tabarrini, who also had one assist for a total of four points.
- Methodist held N.C. Wesleyan to just four shots the entire game. The Battling Bishops struggled to get on offense because they were only successful on two of their 19 clear attempts, 10.5%.
- Ashley Fuentes and Victorianna Murray split time in net for the Monarchs, with each goalie playing a half.
