SALISBURY, N.C.  Participating at the Blue Bear Invitational hosted by Livingstone on Saturday, the Methodist men's track and field team finished in sixth out of 17 competing squads, while the women's team finished in 13th out of 16 teams.

TRACK EVENTS

• Several long-distance runners on the men's side had a good day for Methodist. In the men's 800-meter run, Rafael Shilengitha earned a sixth-place finish out of 20 competitors with a time of 2:05.31.
• Austin Ezzell and Jack Barriger completed the men's 1,500-meter at nearly the exact same pace, with Ezzell taking fourth place in 4:16.81 and Barriger taking sixth place in 4:17.98.
• In the men's 5,000-meter contest, Logan Williams sped to the finish line, earning a third-place finish in a time of 16:54.74.
• Methodist earned points in the women's 3,000-meter race, with Makalyn Wilms (15:10.05) and Adriana Blakeney (15:16:9) placing sixth and seventh, respectively.

FIELD EVENTS

• Brandi Gardner took home second place in the women's long jump, recording a leap of 5.30 meters that narrowly edged out third place.

Methodist will compete next weekend in the VertKlasse Meeting hosted by High Point on Friday, April 5 and Saturday, April 6.
