FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. Methodist University men's tennis took on 20
th ranked, and USA South Athletic Conference rival, North Carolina Wesleyan University at home on Tuesday, April 16. It was a valiant effort by the Monarchs, who fell 9-0 to the Battling Bishops.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Methodist No. 1 & No. 2 double teams each lost by scores of 2-8, which includes the tandem of Matthew Hurley and Harry Crokam losing to a N.C. Wesleyan duo that is regionally ranked 6th in the Atlantic South.
- Wills Belser and Cameron Roth were the closest Monarch pair to take a double match from the Battling Bishops, as they narrowly lost 7-8 (2-7). Belser and Roth battled back from 4-2 to tie the flight at 7-7 before falling in the tiebreaker.
- In No. 1 singles, Hurley faced off with an opponent that was regionally ranked 11th, and lost 6-4, 6-0 in two sets. Crokam played in a competitive No. 2 singles flight, in which he fell 6-7 (4-10), 2-6.
- Losing 0-6, 2-6 in their respective matches were Drew Guarnieri, on court No. 4, and Christian Tihanovich, on court No. 6.
- After playing in a close doubles flight, Belser's singles match, court three, was not as close as he fell 3-6, 2-6. Decklan Rayner dropped No. 5 singles by identical set scores of 1-6.

Its a quick turnaround for Methodist as the team host Ferrum College on Wednesday, in their final non-conference contest. The match is scheduled to begin at 4 PM.
