STAUNTON, Va. Methodist University men's tennis concluded its regular season on Saturday, April 20, with a visit to Mary Baldwin University, where the Monarchs won 8-1 over the Fighting Squirrels.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Methodist team of Matthew Hurley and Harry Crokam registered the first doubles victory, 8-0, on the first court followed by the duo of Drew Guarnieri and Decklan Rayner in No. 2 doubles, 8-1.
- The lone win for Mary Baldwin today happened in No. 3 doubles as Royce South and Williams Johnston of the Monarchs fell 5-8.
- In singles action, Methodist's Hurley (No. 1) and Christian Tihanovich (No. 3) swept their counterparts 6-0, 6-0. The Monarchs own Guarnieri and Cameron Roth, on courts two and four respectively, each dropped just one game as Guarnieri picked up a 6-0, 6-1 dub, while Roth earned a 6-1, 6-0 victory.
- Both Johnston and South would get their revenge in singles to still claim a win for Methodist. Johnston's flight required a super tiebreaker set after he won the first set, 6-4, but lost the second set, 3-6. In the last set, Johnston came out on top 1-0 (10-7).
- No. 6 singles saw South win 6-0, 6-4.

Methodist now gets ready for the upcoming 2024 USA South Men's Tennis Tournament, with the third seeded Monarchs having the honor of hosting a first-round match against the William Peace University, the sixth seed. The contest is scheduled for 2:30 PM on Wednesday, April 24.
