Box Score 2 BUENA VISTA, Va. Challenging the Knights of Southern Virginia, the Methodist softball team was held winless in Saturday's doubleheader, falling short during a ten-inning marathon in game one followed by a two-run loss in game two.

HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME 1
- Methodist took a 3-0 advantage as Hannah Lovick batted in the first two runs during the third inning and Alyssa Rivas stole home during the top of the fourth.
- Southern Virginia tied the game with three runs in the sixth inning, forcing extra innings after a scoreless seventh.
- The teams traded one run per inning until the bottom of the tenth, when the Knights drove in two runs to earn the win.
HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME 2
- The Knights put two runs on the scoreboard in the second inning, then added a third in the third inning. An RBI single by Rachel Lawson in the top of the fourth decreased Methodist's deficit to two runs.
- After Southern Virginia scored two more runs in the fifth, Methodist saw its best opportunity for a comeback in the final frame. The Monarchs scored two runs as Amanda Blackburn and Madison Sanchez each drove in a run, but the effort was cut short with the tying run stranded on first base.
NUMBERS
- The Monarchs produced 11 hits in game two – more than SVU's eight – and drew five walks compared to the Knights' two.
- Hannah Lovick led the team with four RBIs in game one.
