FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. Methodist University women's tennis, the No. 3 seed, hosted Salem College, No. 6 seed, in the first round of the 2024 USA South Women's Tennis Tournament on Tuesday. Playing to decision, the Monarchs advance to the semifinals after beating the Spirits 5-0.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Methodist won all three doubles matches by the same score, 8-1. The pair of Toni Laney and Veva Willocks played in the top spot for the Monarchs, while the No. 2 position was filled by the team of Emma Hulicki and Annabelle Subirats.
- The duo of Caitlin Tihanovich and Katie Sechrist were in the final doubles flight, No. 3, for Methodist.
- Sechrist was the first Monarch to complete her singles flight, winning the No. 6 spot 6-2, 6-1.
- Clinching the overall match for Methodist, on court five, was Willocks as she nearly swept her counterpart 6-0, 6-1.
