HOW IT HAPPENED

- Hulicki was able to put the Monarchs on the board with her win (6-1, 6-0) in No. 2 singles.
- The Knights secured the match, 5-1 at the time, with their victories on courts five & six. In No. 5 singles, junior Veva Willocks of Methodist dropped each set 1-6, while freshman Katie Sechrist fell by identical scores of 3-6, in the battle between No. 6.
- Losing 2-6, 2-6 on court three was Monarch freshman Caitlin Tihanovich. In No. 4 singles, Subirats lost her first set 1-6. Her second set was more competitive, but she still ended up on the losing end of a 5-7 decision.
- Senior Toni Laney, in No. 1 singles, was the final Methodist athlete to finish. She lost her first set 3-6 but bounced back and took set two, following a tiebreaker round, 7-6 (7-1). This forced a super tiebreaker and following a back and forth bout, Laney pulled out the win 1-0 (10-7).
