Split Monarch Squad Competes at High Point and Pembroke

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C.  The Methodist track & field teams went split squad on Saturday, with runners and jumpers competing at High Point while throwers competed at UNC Pembroke.

TOP PERFORMANCES (VertKlasse Meeting)
  • In the men's 800-meter run, Austin Ezzell earned a fifth-place finish out of 71 runners, recording a time of 1:58.02.
  • Freshmen Tydrick Stewart (11.04) and Logan Wade (11.08) placed 23rd and 25th (respectively) in the men's 100-meter dash out of 85 participants. Stewart also took 39th out of 98 runners in the men's 200-meter dash with a time of 22.71 seconds.
  • Brandi Gardner was the top Monarch finisher in the women's 200-meter dash, recording a time of 26.88 seconds.
TOP PERFORMANCES (Braves Classic)
  • Shomare Hazley was the top Monarch on the men's side for a pair of events, including men's shot put (7th, 11.16 m) and men's discus (8th, 34.96 m).
  • On the women's side, Rebecca McGaughnea was the top Monarch in two categories, including women's discus (8th, 32 m) and women's shot put (9th, 9.49 m).

The Monarchs travel to Lynchburg, Va. on Friday and Saturday, competing at the Dennis Craddock Coaches Classic hosted by the University of Lynchburg.
