Monarchs Showcase Top Talent at Final Qualifier

MOUNT OLIVE, N.C.  Striving for personal records as they attempted to qualify for the NCAA Division III national championship meet, seven members of the Methodist track and field teams gave their best shot at the Mount Olive Final Qualifier on Saturday.

RESULTS
  • Tydrick Stewart, A'Jani Mainer, Torrey Williams and Logan Wade finished the men's 4x100-meter relay in a season-best time of 41.37 seconds. They took third out of three competing teams but finished just two hundredths of a second behind second place.
  • In the men's 100-meter dash, Stewart and Wade took ninth and tenth during the preliminary round, recording times of 10.77 and 10.78 seconds respectively. In the same event, Mainer clocked in at 11.07 seconds. Only the top seven finishers got another chance in the finals.
  • In the men's 400-meter run, Williams logged a time of 50.99 seconds, falling just shy of his personal record of 50.22 that he achieved at the USA South Outdoor Championships.
  • Komla Akogo also fell just short of a PR, finishing the men's 400-meter hurdles in a time of 1:00.48. He recently hit his best mark at the USA South Outdoor Championships with a time of 59.91 seconds.
  • Placing sixth and seventh in the women's long jump, Treazure Rosario Watson leaped 5.23 meters, while Brandi Gardner recorded a best distance of 5.15 meters.
