HOW IT HAPPENED
- Methodist's first goal came in the 16th minute of play. The Monarchs played a corner kick short, then passed the ball back out to Brynn Ludka. Ludka lofted a pass into the box from the right side of the field that was deflected toward the left post. After the ball wound up at Piper's feet, she cut back to her right for a clear shot, sending the ball rolling across the front of the frame and into the right side of the net for a score.
- Herndon added a goal early in the second half. After the ball was cleared out of the box by a William Peace defender, Herndon got to it first and sent a strike toward the goal from just beyond the top right corner of the box. The ball sailed over the outstretched hand of the jumping goalkeeper and into the top left corner of the net, putting Methodist ahead 2–0.
- After a free kick on Methodist's defensive end of the field sailed into the attacking zone, Gabby Riemer used her head to put a touch on the ball that perfectly led Haley Cousins toward the goal. One on one with the keeper, Cousins booted the ball with her left foot, threading it in between the keeper and the right post for her fourth goal of the season.
- The Monarchs gave up a goal in the 73rd minute to make the final score 3–1.
