GREENSBORO, N.C. The No. 2 Methodist University men's golf team opened play at the 2025 O'Briant–Jensen Memorial on Monday, hosted by Guilford College at The Cardinal by Pete Dye. In the first of two rounds, the Monarchs carded a 302 (+18) to sit in second place on the team leaderboard.

ROUND ONE
- Seniors Beau Brewer and Haden Ruby paced the Monarchs in the opening round, each firing a four-over 75 to tie for 11th place individually. Brewer made three birdies—one on the front nine and two on the back—while Ruby found his rhythm after the turn, sinking two birdies on the inward stretch.
- Not far behind were Jonny Lewis and Gavin June, who both finished at five-over 76 to sit in a tie for 21st. Lewis, a senior, posted two birdies on the front nine before settling in for a clean back nine, while June, a sophomore, bounced back from a tough start by playing steady golf the rest of the way, recording a pair of birdies of his own.
- Rounding out the Methodist lineup was sophomore Karston Rennie, who turned in an 81 (+10) and is tied for 65th after day one, highlighted by a birdie on the back nine.
UP NEXT
Trailing by just seven strokes behind tournament leader Huntingdon, the Monarchs will look to make a strong push in Tuesday's final round at The Cardinal.
