STAUNTON, Va. Competing in its second tri-match of the season with Brevard College and Mary Baldwin University, the Methodist volleyball team earned two more victories on Friday, winning six out of seven total sets. The Monarchs defeated Brevard 3–1 before sweeping host Mary Baldwin.

Game One
The Monarchs caught fire early versus Brevard, taking a 14–5 lead in the first set after a stretch that included three kills by
Savannah Hovander.
Railyn Fowler and
Addison Johnson recorded back-to-back kills on the final two points of the set as Methodist cruised to a 25–19 win.
After losing the second set, Methodist bounced back by taking a 9–2 lead in the third. Up 19–15, the Monarchs won six of the final seven points, which included two service aces by
Mary Miller. The fourth set was tight, with Brevard pulling even with Methodist at 21–21.
Jamie Holton helped clinch the win for Methodist by earning kills on three of the final six points. She totaled a team-high six kills during the set.
Game Two
Showing no signs of struggle in the first set against Mary Baldwin, Methodist held the lead the entire way to a 25–15 win as Johnson and Fowler paced the team with three kills each. Though the Fighting Squirrels took an early lead in the second set and kept things close most of the way, the Monarchs finished the set with a hitting percentage of .344, totaling 15 kills with six from Holton. Methodist soared to a big win in the final set, tallying six services aces along the way (two by Miller, two by Hovander and two by
Charleigh Anne Hewett).
Highlights
Methodist totaled 19 service aces across the two matches while holding its opponents to just four. Miller contributed three aces in each match.
Seven different Monarchs earned a kill in the win over Mary Baldwin, including
Kassidy Edge, who got her first kills of the season.
