FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. The Methodist women's basketball team endured a tough afternoon on Wednesday, falling 56–20 to non-conference foe Bridgewater College inside the March F. Riddle Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Sophomore Giavonna Dunlap gave Methodist an early 3–2 edge following a three-pointer, but Bridgewater quickly seized control by going on a 12-0 run. The Monarchs briefly stopped the run, with a layup from freshman Taylor Watford, but an additional basket allowed Bridgewater to close the opening quarter ahead 16–5.
- The Eagles continued to build momentum in the second quarter, forcing turnovers and capitalizing in transition. Bridgewater outscored Methodist 18–5 in the frame, stretching its advantage to 34–10 at halftime. Methodist struggled to find a rhythm offensively, shooting just 3-for-27 from the floor in the first half.
- Out of the break, the Monarchs showed flashes of defensive intensity, but Bridgewater remained steady, scoring consistently in the paint while limiting second-chance opportunities. The Eagles added to their lead with a 10–4 third quarter to make it 44–14 heading into the final period.
- The fourth quarter played more evenly, as Methodist generated better looks and increased its scoring output. Despite the improved effort, Bridgewater maintained control and closed out the contest with a 12–6 final-quarter advantage to secure the 56–20 win.
