FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. Taking care of business on the home turf, the Methodist women's lacrosse team dominated on Thursday night, defeating the Guilford College Quakers by a score of 18–3. The Monarchs used a big second quarter to pull away, cruising to their second victory of the season.
During the game,
Kennedy Martin surpassed Sarah Ewin as the program's all–time leader in caused turnovers. Ewin stood atop the leaderboard with 106 before Martin moved into first on Thursday night with 111 and counting.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Erika Henry scored the first goal of the game off a pass from Maddie Hagler. The Monarchs took 12 shots in the first quarter and put all 12 shots on target, but Sammy Keene produced nine saves. With the Monarchs up 2–1, Kaitlyn Coleman found the back of the net with under 30 seconds left in the period to give her team a two–goal lead at the end of a very competitive quarter.
- Coleman was first to score in the second quarter, starting a seven–goal run for Methodist that built a nine–goal difference between the two teams heading into halftime.
- The goals continued to rain down from the Monarchs as a literal rain shower began to drift into Monarch Stadium. Trailing 14–1, the Quakers scored with less than five minutes remaining in the third quarter, but Rylie Sturgill responded before the end of the period to give the Monarchs a 15–2 advantage.
- Brooke Murrell scored her first two goals of the season during the fourth quarter, helping push Methodist to a 15–goal victory while producing her first–ever multi–goal game as a Monarch.
FAST FACTS
- With a game–high four goals, Coleman also chipped in one assist, five ground balls and four draw controls. Meanwhile, Erika Henry's three goals were a career high for the senior.
- Ashley Fuentes and Victorianna Murray split time in goal, with Fuentes recording four saves in the first half and Murray logging two during the second half.
- Appearing in her 70th game as a Monarch, fifth–year senior Ainsley McGinn moves into first place for most games played in program history, exceeding former teammate Jalessa Batchelor.
