HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME 1
- Down 1–0, the Monarchs used a Lynchburg error to their advantage to tie the game in the bottom of the third.
- In the top of the fifth, the Hornets pieced together two hits and an error by the Monarchs to score two runs, reclaiming the lead.
- Methodist answered in the next frame, tallying five hits. Bailey snowed reached on a single to the pitcher, then was advanced by Rachel Blanchard before scoring on an error. Next, Blanchard was batted in by Alyssa Rivas, who doubled to left–center field. Dakota Putman was inserted as a pinch runner for Rivas, advancing to third on a Grace Hobbs sacrifice bunt, then scoring on a Lynsey Plunkett hit to the outfield. Putman's go–ahead run would become the game–winner, as Kiersten Margoupis held the Hornets scoreless in the sixth and the seventh.
HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME 2
- Emma Neeley struck out five batters in the first four innings as neither team managed a run. In the top of the fifth, two walks and a single allowed Lynchburg to load the bases with no outs, igniting a three–run frame for the Hornets.
- Lynchburg added a run to its total in the seventh inning, and though the Monarchs tried to rally down to their last out, they produced just one run, which was made possible by a fielding error by the Hornets.
